Meet Pavlos Charonyktakis, our AI Tech Engineer.

What sparked your passion for AI and machine learning?

My interest in AI started early, during my research years at FORTH and the University of Crete. I became fascinated by how mathematical insight and algorithmic design could reveal patterns that would otherwise remain invisible. I could already foresee how AI might change the world and make it better. Working with biomedical data, where every discovery has the potential to help real people and ultimately humanity, showed me how powerful machine learning can be when applied with care and precision, and how it can make a big impact. That combination of scientific depth and practical value is what truly captured me, and it has been at the center of my career ever since.

What have your roles as founder, CTO and CEO taught you?

Leadership, I’ve learned, is much more than managing projects or making decisions. It’s about leading by example, creating clarity, taking responsibility, and empowering people to do their best work. My years as a leader have taught me to balance vision with pragmatism, to navigate uncertainty, and to cultivate a collaborative environment where ideas can be challenged openly and respectfully. Innovation thrives when people feel trusted - that’s the lesson I carry with me into every role.

What motivates you today, and why did Fairlo stand out to you?

I’m driven by intellectually challenging problems and by the opportunity to turn advanced technology into something meaningful and accessible. Machine learning, GenAI, large-scale systems - these all excite me, but what motivates me the most is working with teams who are curious, humble, and eager to grow together. That’s exactly why Fairlo appealed to me. It’s a place where responsibility is shared, where learning is encouraged, and where technology is used thoughtfully to solve real problems. That is what makes the work not just interesting, but meaningful.
